Row House Galley Kitchen

Narrow spaces, limited light, awkward floor plans, lack of storage... just a few of the challenges that many row house kitchens face. But small kitchens need not live small. Believe it or not, a great galley kitchen can be created with only 7.5' of width (and if you are super clever, you may even be able to squeeze in a powder room)!

Measuring only 12' at the widest point, and, yes, I mean the entire width of the house, (and remember, only 7.5' through the kitchen area), this house offers limited options for kitchen placement, making a galley style kitchen that also serves as a corridor a practical option - *Note, the kitchen is just beyond the stairs

No need to give up storage, counter space, or style! This tiny kitchen even has a space for two bar stools. 

What makes this kitchen work?  

First, extending the dishwasher drawers to a 32" depth so that they line up with the built-in sub zero refrigerator creates both a visually pleasing line plus a spot for two bar stools.

Second, recessing the sink between the refrigerator and dishwasher drawers gives the illusion of more space.  (don't miss the wine storage above the refrigerator)

Third, insetting a large chopping block (at least 30") thus eliminating the need for cabinet space for this necessity.

Fourth, including as many drawers as possible, even above the counter - a home for knives and spices.

Remember the powder room, I mentioned? It is seamlessly tucked beside the refrigerator (behind the black door). The double doors facing the dining room hide a tankless water heater and pantry.  Unbelievable but within a 12.5' (long) x 7.5' (wide) area these homeowners managed to squeeze a kitchen and powder room, as well as a corridor to the dining room - a small kitchen that lives big.
