Nursery Design

Woodland Nursery
I am always delighted by creativity! I love to see how people personalize their space. Today, I had the pleasure of visiting a new mother on Capitol Hill. Both she and her husband are from Minnesota. They instilled a little of their home-state spirit in their son, Drew's,  nursery.
Katy, Drew's mom, used the Woods Wallpaper available at Anthropologie as the backdrop for this delightful room. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/home-decoratingstyles-modern/860077.jsp,  The crib is IKEA, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00210786/.
The changing table is a shelving unit from Ballard Designs that the family already owned. It makes an excellent shallow changing table.

The window panes in the antique window over the changing table are painted with chalkboard paint. The shelf above is from Ballard Designs  insuring keepsake items out of the reach of little hands. http://www.ballarddesigns.com/cafe-shelving/229708?defattrib=&defattribvalue=&listIndex=10

Small scale furniture is so hard to find. This modern rocker can be found here on Capitol Hill at Homebody on 8th St. SE, http://www.homebodydc.com/.

For the framed grouping over the crib, Katy (mom) used inexpensive frames painted the cardboard backing orange and mounted Eric Carle flashcards in 6 of the frames. For the other 3 she cut Drew's initials out of the Woods wallpaper and hung them diagonally in the grouping. The Crib sheet is Eric Carle, http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/eric-carle-crib-sheeting/

Designing a nursery doesn't have to be expensive. The most important ingredient is creativity! This woodland nursery proves the point.
