Small Space Holiday Decorating Tips

If you live in a row house, condo, or other small space, holiday decorating can be a chore. No where for a tree, stockings or holiday cheer! Here are 8 tips that really pack a punch when creating a holiday wonderland in a compact world.

1. Think small - a compact tree on a table offers a wonderful spot for gifts on the table top and underneath. It also may mean you are not moving furniture and trying to squeeze a tree into an already tight space.

2. Remove regular display items and replace with holiday decor - I scoop up some of my "regular accessories" and store them in the Christmas bins that I just took holiday decor out of!

3. Fill random bowls and containers with Christmas balls - The bowls and containers you probably already have lying around, look great filled with Christmas balls and a little snow and really pack a festive punch.

4. Highlight and elevate the small - Take a large ornament or small Christmas decor set it on a pedestal, or wood block, and place it under a glass cloche. Suddenly small items become important!

5. Hang stockings from an old ladder - often found at antique stores and salvage shops, these are significantly cheaper than standard stocking holders and take up almost no space.

6. Change out framed pictures for Holiday themed ones - I replace some of my pictures with more "Chistmasy" ones. Simply store the Christmas pics behind the year-round ones, open the frames and switch them out. They do not even need to be stored in holiday bins.

7. Wreaths hung over mirrors -  Most of us have mirrors, irregardless of the size home we live in and mirrors already have sparkle, why not draw attention to them?

8. Don't forget the accents - Look for pillow covers in your holiday theme that can go right over your everyday pillows. this way they can easily be stored in the Holiday bins without taking up more than a couple of inches of space!!
