Cleaning Linens and Removing Stains
My mother collected antique linens for years. And, one of her best tips for cleaning them was Cascade dishwasher detergent. The great thing about this trick is it works for kids clothes as well as tablecloths. I only use this method on 100% cotton. I also pretreat any serious stains with Shout and a little bit of Tide rubbed into the spot before boiling.
To Clean the Linens
1) Fill an extra large stock pot with water (make sure your pot is big enough for the garment or linen you will be cleaning).
2) Pour in about 1 cup of Cascade dishwasher detergent.
3) Place the garment or linen in the pot
4) Turn the heat on high and bring to a boil.
5) Boil for between 5-10 minutes.
6) Pour out water and repeat (if necessary)
