Displaying Collections
What makes a space your own? Of course, your choice of furniture, wall color, and window treatments define it as yours,but the the personal items displayed often tell a story. Like items grouped together usually make more of an impact - and it doesn't need to be expensive items or large collections. Some of my favorite displays through the years have been seashells (gathered by our kids on many vacations), turtle shells (also kid gathered), Native American pottery, and skeleton keys How to display these collections, however, can be tricky. Here are a few clever ideas.

Love this reflective and glittery display featured on Indulgy. Narrow ledges, like these, could also be used to hold a collection of kids art, vintage LIFE magazines, or framed menus from your favorite restaurants.
These sock monkeys featured in Real Simple are unified by being mounted together on a painted board. A friend of mine has a collection of brightly painted moroccos. Wouldn't they look amazing grouped this way?

Decorating at home should be personal. Display a collection that says something about those people that live there.
